Oh, this is GREAT news!! The Minnesota State Parks and Trails' Gitchi-Gami State Trail came in 3rd in the whole NATION for the Best Recreational Trail in the USA!! We think this resounding support for the trail helps recognize that the 37+ miles of trail that is constructed to date is AMAZING, and we know that when completed this trail will be an INTERNATIONAL destination! Thanks to all who voted in the USA TODAY 10Best contest-- this helps us shine light on to why this trail forges important connections for people, to provide access to all the gems on the North Shore! We are SO pumped that on the heels of the Gitchi-Gami State Trail being nominated for one of the Best Recreational Trails in the USA (a contest whose results will be released tomorrow!!!!) by USA TODAY for their USA TODAY 10Best contest, one of OUR state's gems and one of our favorite State Parks is now nominated for the Best State Park in the nation!! So cool!! Did you know that in addition to waterfall viewing, so many natural surface trails, cross country ski trails in the winter, several picnic areas, great campgrounds that the Minnesota State Parks and Trails' Gooseberry Falls State Park has a dedicated trailhead for the Gitchi-Gami State Trail down by the lake? There is a great parking area access, and trail users can pick up an over 17mile long segment of trail right from the park! Good luck, Gooseberry, you sure area marvel! It's true! The bill, House File 4339 and Senate File 4375 has the support of Senator Hauschild, Representative Skraba, and so many more folks. A connected North Shore is a safer, more accessible North Shore. Will you let your legislator know you support this bill?
